Sex, Food, & Rock 'n Roll

Sex, drugs, & Rock ‘n roll

an interview with Lorenzo Ralimsa

Sex, Drugs, & Rock ‘N Roll

Sex, drugs, rock ‘n roll – what I used to use to categorize any dark, mysterious boy band member.  Most “personal” boy band Instagrams I follow feature a cliché conglomeration of their band brand, honing in on solo shots from concert shows.  Social media is a showcase, maybe not of who we are, but of who we want the public to view us as.  Viterbo local Lorenzo Ralimsa, 24 years young (as he would say), is a big name in a small town. Instead of utilizing his social platforms as another marketing strategy, he shows us there is more to this edgy boy band persona that precedes him.

Womanizer. #Foodie. Musician. He is Lorenzo.

INTERVIEWER
How would your friends describe you in three words?

RALIMSA
They say just “Lorenzo.” Just one word. It’s just Lorenzo.  One weekend, I went to America and when I came back my friends said they noticed that I wasn’t here – a piece of Viterbo was missing.

INTERVIEWER
Describe “your” Viterbo.

RALIMSA
It’s like a big village. It’s not a city, it’s not a little village. It’s a HUGE village.  I’ve lived here almost all of my life. At the same time, it’s a chill place.  You can do whatever you want here: bar, cinema, theatre, cultural events. It’s also just a wonderful place – It’s a medieval city so if you want to discover something, get walking, you can see Viterbo. It’s wonderful.

I lived in Ronciglione, Sutri, Capranica
Ronciglione was my favorite place because I had the most friends there.

INTERVIEWER
You have a huge network here.  How have you made so many friends here?

RALIMSA
I’m what you call, social.

INTERVIEWER
So you like meeting new people?  Getting to know their experiences?

RALIMSA
Usually I want a real friend. Someone that I can talk with – about life, private stuff, problems.  It takes time to trust someone but I can always feel the vibes.
*young twenty-something brunette interrupts his response and wraps her arms around him*
See, like her, she is my friend.  I met her last year and she’s like one of my good friends.

INTERVIEWER
What was it like growing up in Viterbo?

RALIMSA
Maybe it’s not weird in America, but being left-handed here in Italy is hard. When I was in preschool, the nuns tried to correct you – like slap your hand.  They’re just like this.  The nuns are fucking bitches.
But left-handed people think differently.  We think with lateral facts.

INTERVIEWER
What do you do if you get bored in Viterbo?

RALIMSA
I wanna write, or draw, or play with my band.  But, I’ll go somewhere else for the day just to get away.  Rome, Bordello, Tuscany, Napoli.  Whatever I want to do, if I have money.

INTERVIEWER
Do you think you will stay in Viterbo and raise a family?

RALIMSA
Maybe.  I mean honestly I don’t know.  Maybe I’ll stay here for a few years and eventually leave.  Everything changes as you age though, your opinions, your priorities. So who knows.

INTERVIEWER
Do you have any particular pet peeves?

RALIMSA
Rude people.  It’s not people that chew with their mouth open or anything like that; it’s rude people.  Impolite people, in general.
Inconsistent people. If you say something, and do the opposite – you make me mad.

INTERVIEWER
Is food a big part of your Viterbo experience?

RALIMSA
Yes! I LOVE food.  I’m a good cook.  I usually like to make my own food.

INTERVIEWER
Your Instagram consists of mostly food photography.  Why is food so important to you?

RALIMSA
Food is not just to eat. Food is like making friends.  I love making dinner, inviting my friends.  I love when they don’t touch their phones, laughing, talking, having fun.  I honestly eat all day.
Three breakfasts, two lunches, and two dinners.  Because I love to eat.  And if you eat all day, you stay skinny. Your metabolism is working like all day!
I’m not fat, I’m skinny.  Obviously, if you eat shitty food, you’ll get fat.  But if you eat good food, good meat, good cheese, sometimes pasta, sometimes pizza, you’ll be fine.

INTERVIEWER
Someday, will you expect your future wife to cook?

RALIMSA
I prefer to cook. If I am cooking, I don’t want anybody in my kitchen.  If you stay in the kitchen with me, I’m gonna be really mad.

Breakfast – healthy. Raw, not cooked horse meat with pachino tomatoes.  Just water with it.
Second breakfast – coffee. Dark. Bitter.  No sugar.  Bitter – like my soul.
Lunch – meat, vegetables, cheese. – but sometimes I have pasta, long pasta like spaghetti.
Second lunch – sometimes a sandwich or sometimes salad
Dinner – vegetables, some easy meat, or usually I go out with friends or alone and get sushi or pizza
Second dinner – maybe pasta at a restaurant

INTERVIEWER
If you had to eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

RALIMSA
No, it’s not a question. I don’t want to answer it.
Just one thing for the rest of my life? No, fuck off. *laughs*

INTERVIEWER
In the time we’ve been here women have been drawn to you: touching you, winking, saying hello.  How would you respond to someone calling you a womanizer?  Women seem to flock to you.

RALIMSA
Really?  I mean, usually I don’t see that girls love me. I just see that I’m a social person.  I don’t think of it in a sexual context though.  Women in general love someone that will give them attention, but not in a sexual way.  Sometimes men just think – wow, I want to fuck this girl.  I don’t think this.  Some girls even ask me, “hey, let’s have a quick shag!” and I say, no, thank you.

INTERVIEWER
Why do you turn down women who are so willing to give in to you?

RALIMSA
Firstly, because I am really picky.  Like, really picky.  It’s not important if you’re beautiful.  I just need something more.  Sometimes I have to talk with the girl because I want to know if she has good character. Because the sex is connected to the character.  Sometimes beautiful women are like terrible in bed, like a piece of wood or a dead fish.

INTERVIEWER
So do you think you have a particular type of woman you're interested in?

RALIMSA
I don’t think it’s that type. It’s just something.  I call it something. I just feel the vibe.

INTERVIEWER
So do you keep track of the women you sleep with?

RALIMSA
I think that the guys who keep track of the women they sleep with or measure their dicks are just stupid.  You have to live.  Live your life.  Do the right thing, don’t be a dick. Respect everyone. Respect yourself.  If you do well, other people can see it.

INTERVIEWER
Is there anything else you’d like to add?

RALISMA
I’m an asshole, because I’m picky.  I want everything to be right, and perfect.  Every time I do something, I want it to be perfect. So if someone annoys me when I want something to be perfect, I’m going to be an asshole.  I have high standards.  It’s good and bad…

*Softly in the background, “House of the Rising Sun” by The Animals begins and Ralimsa pauses to belt out the second verse…*
My mother was a tailor
She sewed my new blue jeans
My father was a gambling man
Down in New Orleans

He continues…

You know what I love? Just love to with people, you know playing games on society.  Doing something weird and leaving the people so confused like, “what the fuck just happened?”
Life is like a social experiment.

INTERVIEWER
What does food mean to you?

RALISMA
That’s a really great question.  Food is really important to me; it’s on the top of my list.  Food is always the top.  Food, sex, money, health.  If you have good sex, eat good, have money, you are healthy.

INTERVIEWER
As the lead singer of your band, ELeMenti DiSturbo and having almost 30k followers on your personal Instagram, you seem pretty famous.  What’s it like being this big name in such a small town?

RALIMSA
It doesn’t change my life. I am the same stupid.
I’m the same with everyone. I am just Lorenzo.

Sex, food, rock ‘n roll.

Sex, food, rock n roll.  He may not defy the stereotypes of a musician but he is surely much more than that. Of his posts, his photos of his charm, spontaneity, and quirk seem to be the most alluring. Whether acrobatics in random alleyways or an orgasmic 10 series photos of his meals that day, these are the photos that capture his spirit.

As his bio reads, “Whoever does so will never ask permission. The action, the agent, are never induced, but always spontaneous.”
